In a city that always seems to be ripping the money out of your pockets, I am always happy when I can find FREE things to do in New York City. Add to that anything fall themed (it’s my favorite season) and I’m a happy camper. On Sunday, October, 19, the Big Apple is celebrating the Big Apple with…apples. The Lower East Side is turning its apple green with the first annual New York City Apple Day and the Go Green Lower East Side Kick off on Sunday, October 19 from 11:00 am to 4:30 pm. This FREE festival will take place in the middle of what used to the Delancey Apple Orchard in the mid 1700s on Orchard Street between Broom and Grand Streets. Honoring its past, commemorating its namesake and celebrating the present season, this festival will have lots of great apple themed treats to taste as well as fun and family-friendly activities.
Activities at the Event:
Even if you just stop by this festival for the free samples of delicious food, you will have come out ahead. Plus, there are definitely worse ways to spend an October Sunday than strolling the streets of New York, eating free food and celebrating the autumn season.
