The British Consulate-General in New York City is located on 3rd Avenue, near 51st Street. Not surprisingly, it’s near the United Nations Complex. The closest subway line is the 6 at 51st Street, but this is a crowded part of Midtown, which is easy to reach from most subway lines with only a short walk.

The New York consulate covers all citizen service issues for New York, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, and Fairfield County in Connecticut.

Here is the official site of the British Consulate in New York City.

My 23 year old son was born at a military hospital in England and was issuued a British birth certificate with health card. He wants to attend Cambridge Univ and was asked to provide proof of British passport. How can he obtain passport and is he dual citizen? Please advice, most important. Thank you.

My son attends college in Boston and was accepted into a summer program at London School of Economics for this upcoming June-August of 2009. He has dual citizenships of U.S. and Sweden, and holds dual passports as well.
My question is: can he enter the U.K. with his Swedish passport or does he have to use his American passport and apply for a visa?
He is registered at his college as an american citizen, since he resides in this country. I have consulted the Swedish embassy in New York and their answer was that he can enter with his Swedish passport regardless wether he is a full time resident of Sweden or not.
I just want to make sure that he does not run into a problem since I realize rules and regulations change often.
What is your answer and advice in regards to this matter?
Thank you so much your response is greatly appreciated.

Best regards,

Maria Winthrop
